Pontiac (municipality) is still above average. (ie "better").

Comment by Mo: This is only for costs. Our Police and garbage costs are high, (large area, low population) and we have slightly more employees per 100 residents than average. On the other hand should we be proud that we spend little on Loisirs et culture (includes hockey, soccer, libraries)? ($43 per resident vs. $303 per resident in Gatineau, or $102 in Shawville)? Perhaps value for money should be the criterion.

Community days in Quyon
The Lions and Lionettes in Quyon are holding Community Days this weekend (5-7 September). (There was nothing about this in the municipal "Bulletin de Pontiac".) La Table autonome des aînés des Collines recommence ses Café- rencontres mensuelles pour proches aidants d’aînés dans cinq municipalités du territoire. Un lieu et un moment de répit idéal pour échanger et partager avec d’autres proches aidants!
C’est un rendez-vous le 9 septembre 2014 de 13h00 à 15h00 à la bibliothèque située au 2024 chemin 148, Pontiac (Luskville);
Café et biscuits seront offerts sur place! Les frais de gardiennage peuvent être remboursés sur demande et du transport est aussi offert aux personnes dans le besoin.

Des Collines Seniors’ Roundtable resumes its monthly Coffee get- together for caregivers of elderly persons in five municipalities of the territory. A great opportunity to have a little respite and to share with other caregivers!

Petition to improve route 148
Pat Lusk has started a petition to the ministry of Transport to bring the Breckenridge part of route 148 up to provincial standards. This was supposed to happen 3 years ago. There's a copy of the petition at Dépanneur Eardley in Breckenridge, and probably in other déps along the highway. Also in Shawville. Please stop in and sign the petition.

The result of the "Breckenridge Creek Nature Preserve clean-up" along ch Braun and route 148 on Saturday afternoon, 26 April 2014. It was raining, so four of us got wet and muddy.

Save the Chimney swifts, Martinets ramoneur

The school chimney in Shawville has been modified so it is no longer accessible for the swifts that formerly used it as their roost.

Route change for bicycle trail, Sentier Pontiac
At the Aylmer end the route has been modified.
From the start of the path from Aylmer (the former rail-line) at Terry-Fox, it goes up Terry-Fox to Lavigne, then on Panorama and McCaffrey to route 148. (The last approved route continued along the former rail-line to Domaine Bellevue, then proceeded up ch Asaret to route 148).
